In 2021, recognizing the need to cut pollution from the transportation sector to protect the health of tens of millions of residents across the state, New York’s leaders adopted the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) standard to slash deadly diesel pollution. This clean trucks policy sets increasing sales targets for electric medium- and heavy-duty trucks and includes flexibilities to ensure truckmakers can comply effectively.
Corporate Polluters Must Not Stand in the Way of Clean Air
Instead of working together to build a healthier future, corporate polluters are squandering resources—millions of dollars—on misinformation campaigns and lobbying efforts designed to delay action and allow them to keep polluting our air. New Yorkers deserve better. These companies are prioritizing profit over people, particularly those already burdened by decades of systemic racism. We do not have the luxury of waiting any longer to address the devastating effects of transportation pollution. We cannot let corporate polluters dictate the future of our air quality.
Stand Up for New Yorkers and Our Health
The health of New Yorkers is on the line. To meet our climate goals and ensure every community has access to clean, breathable air, the clean truck standards must be implemented on time. There is no room for delay. New York has an opportunity to lead the charge and stand with its neighbors— like New Jersey—who are implementing these vital rules. The clean truck standards will cut harmful emissions, protect vulnerable populations, and ensure a healthier future for all.
We must continue to make progress toward clean trucks, without backsliding or delays, to defend the health of our communities.
New Yorkers: Demand clean air for all and the swift implementation of life-saving pollution-cutting programs. Our health—and the future of our planet—depends on it.
