The New York City Environmental Justice Alliance

Founded in 1991, the New York City Environmental Justice Alliance (NYC-EJA) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 citywide membership network linking grassroots organizations from low-income neighborhoods and communities of color in their struggle for environmental justice. NYC-EJA empowers its member organizations to advocate for improved environmental conditions and against inequitable environmental burdens by the coordination of campaigns designed to inform City and State policies.

The Tri-State Transportation Campaign

Tri-State Transportation Campaign fights for an equitable, safe, multi-modal transportation network that provides options and supports the economies of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Environmental Advocates of New York

Environmental Advocates of New York’s mission is to protect our air, land, water, wildlife and health. Celebrating its 50th Anniversary, EANY monitors state government, evaluates proposed laws, and champions policies and practices that will ensure the responsible stewardship of our shared environment. EANY works to support and strengthen the efforts of New York’s environmental community and to make New York a national leader.

Jobs to Move America (JMA) is a strategic policy center dedicated to building an equitable, sustainable society by creating good jobs for all. Our research has been used by policymakers in cities and states across the country to ensure that public investment in infrastructure counters climate change, holds corporations accountable, and expands access to good, clean jobs for all working people. We have built powerful coalitions of labor, community, and environmental groups to advocate for equitable policy solutions that offer a roadmap to transforming our economy.

New York lawyers for the public interest

New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI) combines the power of law, organizing, and the private bar to make lasting change where it’s needed most. We have fought for more than 40 years to protect civil rights and achieve lived equality for communities in need. NYLPI works to eliminate the unfair burden of environmental hazards borne by low-income communities and communities of color, and to create a more equitable and sustainable city. In partnership with community-based organizations, advocacy groups, and residents, our Environmental Justice team builds campaigns, launches litigation, and shapes policy. We support local leadership and strengthen communities’ ability to assert their right to a healthy and sustainable environment.

EarthJustice

New York Public Interest Research Group

Over the decades,  New York Public Interest Group (NYPIRG) has educated hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers and recruited tens of thousands of community-based members from all parts of the state, enhancing NYPIRG’s institutional impact and helping to bring the voices of average New Yorkers to public policy debates. NYPIRG’s examines important issues, produces studies, and engages New Yorkers in public education campaigns designed to produce policies that strengthen democracy, enhance the rights of consumers and voters, and protect the environment and public health.

Union of concerned scientists

The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is a national nonprofit organization founded more than 50 years ago by scientists and students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. UCS puts rigorous, independent science into action, developing solutions and advocating for a healthy, safe, and just future.
